Carbon neutral urban farming : scenarios and perspectives

This article introduces a section that collects contributions from two research studies on urban agriculture Bize_UrFarm and strame. The themes reported in the following articles have many points in common, starting with the fact that they all intercept the urban built environment, with its infrastructure (overpasses, disused constructions and railways) and buildings with different functions. They both aim to identify its potential, with analysis and mappings from the large scale of the city, and then defining intervention strategies at the medium-to-small scale of the architectural object and its parts, roofs, blind facades, and service spaces that can contribute to the creation of a productive green infrastructure capable of improving the environmental and social aspects of the city. L'articolo introduce un servizio che raccoglie contributi da due ricerche sull'agricoltura urbana (Bize_urFarm e strame) accomunate da molti punti di contatto, a cominciare da come l'ambiente costruito urbano, con i suoi diversi edifici e infrastrutture (cavalcavia, strutture e ferrovie in disuso), viene intercettato da tali pratiche. Entrambe le ricerche si pongono l'obiettivo di identificarne il potenziale, con analisi e mappature che partono dalla scala ampia della città, per poi definire strategie di intervento alla scala media e piccola dell'oggetto architettonico e delle sue parti, coperture, facciate cieche, spazi di servizio che possono contribuire a realizzare un'infrastruttura verde produttiva in grado di migliorare gli aspetti ambientali e sociali della città.
