Inventare l'antifascismo : l'insofferenza beffarda di una generazione senza maestri
P. 161-173
Primo Levi and Leonardo Sciascia, born in 1919 and 1921 respectively, spent their youth under Fascism. This essay, presented at the 12th Leonardo Sciascia Colloquium held in Rome on the 7th and 8th of October 2021, explains the journey, shared by the two future writers, of progressive emancipation from the words imposed by the regime. It also focuses briefly on the moral legacy of this experience, through which both writers developed a keen sensibility for the various forms of Fascism, blatant or deliberate, present throughout the 20th century - well beyond the end of Mussolini's twenty years in power.
