Il ruolo della riflessività nell'educazione alle STEM tra le ragazze

  • Da anni l'Unione Europea monitora il numero delle donne che lavorano nell'ambito delle STEM e nonostante le linee di indirizzo e le strategie proposte, le professioni scientifiche continuano a rimanere prerogativa degli uomini. Un impulso alla diffusione delle STEM tra gli studenti e in particolare tra le ragazze è stato dato senza dubbio dal PNRR Italia e, nello specifico, dall'iniziativa "Futura: la scuola per l'Italia di domani" che prevede tra le linee di investimento per le competenze la promozione delle STEM. Il PNRR ha previsto come obiettivo trasversale alle sei Missioni una maggiore inclusione delle donne in tutti i settori della società e in modo particolare in quello della ricerca scientifica. L'orientamento di genere alle discipline scientifiche tuttavia deve fare i conti con la presenza di una cultura che non riesce a immaginare per le donne professioni diverse da quelle appartenenti al mondo della cura, con delle ricadute nelle scelte delle studentesse.
  • Pertanto, ogni azione volta a orientare le ragazze alle STEM deve partire da una riflessione volta a decostruire gli stereotipi legati alle professioni scientifiche e a prefigurare nuovi percorsi di vita. La riflessione attraverso il dispositivo narrativo consente alle ragazze di "dare voce" alle rappresentazioni sociali che condizionano le loro scelte e a svelare, attraverso queste, i condizionamenti culturali che impediscono di realizzare i propri desideri professionali. All'individuazione di queste rappresentazioni sociali si aggiunge la scoperta di sé e della capacità di essere resiliente e dunque capace di resistere agli ostacoli che si frappongono tra desiderio di affermazione di sé e vincoli culturali.   • For years, the European Union has been monitoring the number of women working within STEM and despite the proposed guidelines and strategie, scientific professions continue to remain the prerogative of men. An impulse to the diffusion of STEM among students and in particular among girls was undoubtedly given by PNRR Italy and, specifically, by the initiative Futura: the school for tomorrow's Italy which provides among the investment lines for skills the promotion of STEM. The PNRR has envisaged as a transversal objective of the six Missions a greater inclusion of women in all sectors of society and in particular in that of scientific research.
  • However, gender orientation in scientific disciplines must be faced with the presence of a culture that cannot imagine for women professions other than those belonging to the world of care, with repercussions on the choices of students. Therefore, any action aimed at orienting girls to STEM must start from a reflection aimed at deconstructing the stereotypes linked to scientific professions and prefiguring new paths of life. The reflection through the narrative device allows girls to give voice; to the social representations that condition their choices and to reveal, through these, the cultural conditionings that prevent them from realizing their professional desires. To the identification of these social representations is added the discovery of self and the ability to be resilient and therefore able to resist the obstacles that stand between the desire to assert oneself and cultural ties.
