Un contributo per la cronologia assoluta del Bronzo Medio : l'abitato perilacustre di Viverone Vi1-Emissario e l'Italia nordoccidentale
P. 441-457
Dendrochronological analysis conducted on 149 wooden elements from the lake dwelling Vi1-Emissario in the lake Viverone together with a wigglematch allow the absolute dating of buildings between 1424 and 1401 ±41 cal BC (2σ). From the site comes a rich collection made of pottery and metal items, whose location can be now identified on the village map in the reconstructed structures. The finds can be attributed to the late phases of Middle Bronze Age 2 (BM2), therefore the site can become a reference point for the absolute dating of Middle Bronze Age for northwestern Italy and the Alpine region. 43 radiocarbon dates obtained for 16 Middle Bronze Age sites in North-western Italy and the nearby Canton of Ticino are reported and illustrated.
The absolute dates of the wooden structures of Viverone Vi1 are in agreement with the ones coming from the Noceto votive tank, the pile-dwelling of Tombola di Cerea and the Mauritiusquelle in Sankt Moritz, which suggest that the transition between Middle Bronze Age 2 and Middle Bronze Age 3 could be estabilished in the last decades of the 15th Century BC.
