Sicilia terra di frontiera tra la fine del III e gli inizi del II millennio BC.

P. 199-206

Between the end of the III andthe beginning of the II millennium BC Sicily was invaded by a group of people possibly coming from Sardinia. These were the people who introduced the Bell Beaker culture into the island. The spread of this culture was limited to western Sicily, with some marginal extensions to the central part of the island. The presence of the Bell Beaker culture gave rise to very interesting phenomena of cultural syncretism, such as the peculiar architectural shape of the traditional sicilian grave, which was enriched by an adjoining megalithic corridor, or the typical Bell Beaker impressed decoration that was sometimes also painted in red, black and white following the local tradition of the Sant'Ippolito culture. A frontier arose between the area in which the Bell Beaker culture was diffused and the rest of the island, although no traces of conflict have been identified to date between the two parts.
