Transalpine contacts and Italian influences on southern Bavarian Neolithic (6th-3rd Millennium BC)

2020 - Istituto italiano di preistoria e protostoria

P. 125-134

The article examines the transalpine relations between southern Bavaria and northern Italy diachronously during the Neolithic period. It evaluates both direct reciprocal imports of raw materials and ’nished products as well as similarities of a stylistic and technological nature due to cultural contacts. In the Early Neolithic, no direct relationships are detectable. From the Middle Neolithic to the Late Neolithic, increasingly strong relationships evolve, leading to strong cultural convergence and lasting until the end of the Late Neolithic. [Publisher's text]
