Una nuova area funeraria di età golasecchiana : la necropoli del Nuovo Ospedale S. Anna (San Fermo della Battaglia, Como)
P. 651-670
Preventive archaeological excavations, carried out between the end of 2007 and 2008 by the Soprintendenza Archeologia della Lombardia during the construction of the new S. Anna hospital of Como, locality “Tre Camini”, brought to light a new burial area pertinent to the Golasecca culture. The necropolis was made up of thirteen cremation burials within structures which were covered by stones. Two separate burial grounds, divided by the Valle Grande stream, were identified in the vast area explored. The condition of the tombs was not optimal as they had been partially destroyed by farm work and other such operations. Nevertheless, the grave goods provide important information about the chronology of the small necropolis within the second Golasecca period and indicate that some of the tombs must have belonged to prominent members of the community, both male and female.
