  • "Quali sono le ragioni che in poco più di trent'anni hanno portato a questo drastico cambiamento?" È a partire da questa domanda che l'autore tenta di ricostruire, in un volume che raccoglie le testimonianze di oltre cinquanta intervistati, la trama di una complessa vicenda che ha segnato, a partire dagli anni '80, il declino di un'intera area. Una narrazione che avviene su un doppio binario, in superficie il vivere informale dei tanti migranti giunti a Castel Volturno, e sullo sfondo la crisi economica, politica, sociale ed ambientale dove i fenomeni di abusivo costiero, la speculazione edilizia, la diffusa rete capillare della criminalità organizzata e il depauperamento delle risorse ambientali, non solo costituiscono la cornice entro cui queste vicende si disvelano ma rappresentano la radice del problema.
