La stratigrafia di Castel Grande (Bellinzona, Canton Ticino, Svizzera) : rivalutazione dei dati e primi risultati
P. 167-177
In 1984 and 1985 the Archaeological Service of Canton Ticino carried out two rescue excavations campaigns under the direction of Pierangelo Donati in Castel Grande (Bellinzona). The stratigraphy revealed a sequence from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. The preliminary publications displayed the importance of the site for the regional prehistory, concerning chronology (in fact, it includes the main cultural groups Early Neolithic, VBQ I, VBQ Facies Isolino, Neolitico finale) as well as the material culture and confirms the reliability and richness of the stratigraphic sequence as well as the documentation's quality; it also allows understanding the importance of the occupations particularly during the lesser-known Neolitico finale. This paper presents the results of a reassessment of the stratigraphy, the main occupations and their integration in the Northern Lombardy chrono-cultural sequence. [Publisher's text]
