Studia humanitatis versus divina doctrina : il dialogo Minturno-Bacchini sul significato dell'impegno letterario

Questo saggio raccoglie e commenta alcuni passaggi del dialogo epistolare tra Antonio Minturno e il suo allievo Giambattista Bacchini, dopo che quest'ultimo decise di farsi Cappuccino. Del loro dialogo è messo a tema l'argomento dell'eticità dell'impegno letterario, che i due affrontarono nella consapevolezza del dibattito culturale che segnò il passaggio dall'Umanesimo al Rinascimento. Attraverso la viva testimonianza di due acutissimi intellettuali, piuttosto che attraverso la contrapposizione delle posizioni teoriche, si ha così l'occasione di ricomporre in estrema sintesi i passaggi di un dibattito culturale epocale, che, in questa fattispecie, attraversa il magistero e il dialogo, per concludersi nel silenzio di una vocazione religiosa che, pur rifiutando la vanagloria delle humanae litterae, non per questo disprezzò la "carità intellettuale". This essay collects and comments on some passages of the epistolary dialogue between Antonio Minturno and his student Giambattista Bacchini, after the latter decided to become a Capuchin. The topic of the ethics of literary commitment is the subject of their dialogue, which the two faced in the awareness of the cultural debate that marked the transition from Humanism to the Renaissance. Through the living testimony of two very valuable intellectuals, rather than through the opposition of theoretical positions, the opportunity is offered to recompose in extreme synthesis the passages of an epochal cultural debate, which in this case passes through the magisterium and dialogue, to conclude in the silence of a religious vocation which rejected the vainglory of humanae litterae but still did not for this reason despise "intellectual charity".
