Croce e il marxismo

The essay intends to demonstrate that Croce's discussion of Marxism is not limited to the youthful phase of his philosophical activity but continues throughout his life. And if in the first phase Croce's attention is essentially directed to the demonstration of the non-scientific character of the Marxian theory of value, subsequently he will discuss Sorel's revolutionary syndicalism and will imagine as possible the formation of a socialist movement made functional to the growth of the National state. Finally, in the last period of his life, Croce deals very critically with the idea of communism as a political reality. This constant interest in Marxism arises from the fact that, while denying Marxism any scientific validity, Croce is aware of the fact that it theoretically represents a social force that needs to be integrated into the history of liberal civilization.
