L'arte del "sillogismo sensato" nella Dialectica di Tommaso Campanella
191-212 p.
The collection of the five parts that constitute Philosophia rationalis (1638) - Grammatica, Dialectica, Rhetorica, the Latin Poëtica (fully reworked from the Italian version) and Historiographia - would be published in Paris in the projected Opera Om nia. The Dialectica (not reprinted after the seventeenth-ÂÂcentury edition) still remains to be studied. Dialectic is defined as an art or rational instrument of the wise man with whi ch to regulate the discourse of every science, so that we can account for why dialectic is termed an ars and not a scientia. It proposes a new methodology based on sensory categories instead of on words or abstractions. In his both systematic and precise examina- tion, Campanella is concerned with attacking Aristotelian syllogism on all fronts. The work defends with passion the nature of the sensory function doctrine of the primalities;; the first Being is essentialized by the infinite principle of Power, Wisdom, and Love.
