Calciatrici malgrado tutto : l'altra metà del pallone nell'Italia repubblicana
133-161 p.
The essay analyzes the history of Women's football in Italy from 1946 to the end of the XX century, with a final section on the last twenty years. After some attempts to exploit women's football for propaganda and commercial purposes in the 1950s, in the 1960s the development of the movement was largely ignored by the Figc and Coni. Things change with the "Golden Age" of the female football movement - from 1968 to the 1980s -, marked by a partial opening of the sports institutions but by deep internal divisions. Through the press and the media sources (TV, web), the author retraces the way in which the media have represented women's football (reinforcing gender stereotypes), the "voices" of the protagonists and the relationship with the female condition in Italy.
