Léon Duguit : impegno e solidarietà, liberalismo e socialismo

2016 - Editoriale Scientifica

320-356 p.

  • This work examines the theoretical roots of Léon Duguit's political and social reflection. The first objective is to define the role of intellectuals according to Duguit. The second one is to analyse the relationship between individual and society in his thought. As a matter of fact, Duguit's political thought is characterised by his critique of the bourgeois democracy fundamentally flawed by individualism, which in turn is responsible for both the recognition of an abstract formal right and for the prevalence of the individuals' rights over those of society. On the basis of these fundamental premises, the study aims to explore the relationship between individual and society in Duguit's view and time, and his idea of freedom and ownership.
