Terre scorticate : colonialismo e realtà urbane in Libia tra percezione e trasformazione
69-96 p.
The stereotype of the heavenly Libya, "Promised Land" to be conquered and exploited, pro-Tripoli propaganda main concept, is the mental construct that perhaps is changing more than any other during the colonial campaign. Analyzing the Italian soldiers' written testimonies you can examine the quality of the landscape's perception elaborated during the war. In particular, the urban reality descriptions show the strong contrast between the crystallized image of Libya - conveyed by propaganda, literature, periodicals and postal images - and its reality as it is experienced and narrated by the soldiers.
