"Una consuetudine di mezzo secolo circa" : dal Pra e Garin
P. 269-310
The article aims to study the relationship between Mario Dal Pra and Eugenio Garin. Reference is made above all to the correspondence between the two scholars, an exchange of letters characterized by an essential agreement which lasted from 1947 to 1992. At the center of attention is Garin's collaboration in the activities of the «Rivista di storia della filosofia» founded by Dal Pra in 1946. Together with Dal Pra himself and Giulio Preti, Garin was also the director of the Rivista from 1956 to 1964. This period was characterized by lively discussions between Garin and Preti on the relationship between philosophy and the history of philosophy. After retracing the dialogue that took place between Garin and Dal Pra in the 1940s, the article reports passages from Dal Pra's unpublished notebooks in which, unlike in the correspondence, some critical positions emerge towards Garin's historicism.
