In Gran Bretagna, sharia councils per gli islamici oppure one law for all?

2022 - Franco Angeli

P. 195-203

The presence of an Islamic minority of about 5% of the population in Great Britain poses the problem of the Islamic law (Sharia) coexisting with the traditional Common Law. Since 1982 new institutions - namely, the British Sharia Courts - have been taking into account this problem of legal pluralism, which propose to solve Muslim family-related problems in Great Britain according to the Islamic law. This generated the serious resistance of the movement One Law for All, requiring a unique legal system for everyone living in the country. [Publisher's text]
