La cospirazione dei giacobini napoletani nel 1792-­94 : materiali per una rivisitazione

La cospirazione organizzata dai giacobini meridionali nel 1792-­94, tesa ad abbattere la monarchia borbonica nel Regno di Napoli e a istituire una Repubblica democratica fondata sulla Costituzione francese del 1793, fu la più vasta e diffusa tra le cospirazioni che negli stessi anni furono organizzate in altri Stati della Penisola italiana. Tra quei movimenti cospirativi, quello napoletano è stato anche il più studiato; e tuttavia le sue vicende restano tuttora largamente oscure e ostaggio di alcune consolidate interpretazioni emerse a inizio Ottocento. Il paper mostrerà le radici storiografiche di tali interpretazioni, ponendole in discussione anche grazie a documentazione inedita o finora non utilizzata dagli storici. [Testo dell'editore].

The conspiracy organized by the Southern Jacobins in 1792-­94, aimed at overthrowing the Bourbon monarchy in the Kingdom of Naples and establishing a democratic Republic founded on the French Constitution of 1793, was the largest and most widespread of the conspiracies that were organized in the same years in other States of the Italian Peninsula. Among those secret movements, the Neapolitan one was also the most widely studied; and yet its events still remain largely obscure and hostage to some consolidated interpretations emerged in the early 19th century. The paper examines the historiographical roots of these interpretations and calls them into question on the basis of unpublished or hitherto unused documentation by historians. [Publisher's Text].
