Andavan questuando con pericolo loro e scandalo altrui : conservatori femminili nella Parma settecentesca
P. 73-90
During the Age of Enlightenment, the worsening of the thorny issue of begging and the associated emergence of rising social needs nourished the sprouting of specific institutions, as a significant reflection of the growing articulation of charitable offer. The Eighteenth century appears as a watershed also by another point of view. Bypass ing through the narrow boundaries of the noble and cloistered fences, the female figure acquires renewed importance. An important role in this respect was played by the Eighteenth-century boarding schools for girls, which, hosting those who were in danger, aimed to educate them in learning a trade. The article focuses on the main female conservatories during the Age of Enlightenment in Parma. [Publisher's text]
