Persone LGBTQ+ con malattia cronica in Italia : tra precarietà, cura e (in)visibilità
84-97 p.
The research "Chroniqueers" questions the multiple intersections between experiences of chronic illness and LGBTQ+ identification. It investigates the narratives of 24 young adults aged between 24 and 39 in Italy and Portugal. Chronic illness is seldom explored in its relations with LGBTQ+ experiences; at the same time, sexual orientations and gender identities outside the cisheteronormative norm are rarely present in studies on chronic illness. In the context of job insecurity, weakness of the legislative framework for LGBTQ + people and centrality of a familyoriented culture, the experiences of LGBTQ + people with chronic illness constitute a litmus tests of multiple forms of social and economic vulnerability. The article analyzes some of those emerged in the Italian sample, with specific attention to significant interweaving aspects between visibility, care and precariousness. [Publisher's text].
