L'Iri davanti alla sfida ecologica (1970-1979)

In the 1970s, IRI also had to face the "ecological challenge". The Institute moved in three directions: it tried to influence the first experiments in environmental policy (in particular, in the field of water protection), it tried to activate a series of initiatives to make managers and technicians aware of the problem of pollution and its social consequences, and through some of its subsidiaries, it promoted activities in the field of depollution techniques. Using completely unpublished sources, this article reconstructs the evolution of these operations. In this way, the text tries to shed light on IRI's environmental strategy and on the way it interacted with the other problems that the group had to face in a difficult economic situation.
