La mediazione culturale e l'educazione antirazzista nella scuola di oggi

2016 - Editoriale Scientifica

398-412 p.

In her analysis, the author observes that our entering the era of globalization is the advent of the third millennium. Globalization of markets and technology, the growth of global communication and the rise of strong migration flows have made it no longer possible to imagine a closed, isolated and self-sufficient society. Still, it is true, national states continue to grapple and collide, but it feels stronger and more widespread the need for a new world order that respects human rights and ecosystem balances, an order that is fairer, truly shared and respected by all. According to the author, therefore, new contexts are necessary in which responsible and cooperative adults teach children to dialogue on diversity and to deal with their and other people's problems with balance and sensitivity.

Cultural mediation almost always passes through linguistic mediation, that is the helping presence of people of the same culture or able to speak the same language who translate the needs and requests of foreigners to service operators, or vice versa. [Publisher's text].
