Tractatus de immortalitate animae (1518)
241-248 p.
Tractatus de Immortalitate Animae (1518). This article aims to contribute to knowledge of the thought and work of Juan de Oria, Spanish Renaissance philosopher who lectured at the University of Salamanca during the first decades of the 16th century. For this purpose, the Author presents here the first modern edition of Oria's Tractatus de immortalitate animae, originally published in 1518. The text is important, among other reasons, because it bears very early testimony to the echo in Spain of the dispute over the immortality of the soul that arose in Italy following the publication in 1516 of Pietro Pomponazzi's De immortalitate animae.
