La Commissione europea e la politica di informazione in Italia nella crisi degli anni Settanta
44-67 p.
This work focuses on the European Commission information policy towards Italy between 1969 and 1979, a seminal decade characterised by the evolution of the European integration process and widespread political and social crisis in the Italian peninsula. Drawing on primary sources from several institutional and private archival collections stored at the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence, the article argues that the European Commission interpreted its information policy according to a clear-cut political rationale, based on the need to legitimise the "image" of Europe in Italy. This eff ort was, however, an implicit admission of the limits of a European consciousness, which the European institution spasmodically aimed to shape. [Publisher's text].
