Video representations of terrorism before and after digital shift are the main topic of this interdisciplinary paper. 9/11 is here considered as a turning point from a millennium to another and the ending of a monopoly of professional media in delivering visual contents. Furthermore relationships between the present visual culture and representations of martyrdom and agony in Western art are considered. The final part deals with audio-visual production of ISIL, making profit of the universal spread of internet social networks so to deliver propaganda to its Western target, young Islamic who could become "foreign fighters". The analysis point out how Hollywood production routines and skills are applied to the making of a new Islamic aggressive imagery. [Publishers' text].
