In the essay is analyzed the magisterial modus operandi adopted by Mario Dal Pra in his courses at the State University of Milan, in the writing of textbooks and anthologies of the history of philosophy for high school, and in his editions of the great works in the history of thought. Within this vast output can be detected a constant and increasingly resolute educational intention. It is not confined to providing professional preparation for future philosophers and teachers of the history of thought, but also aims to provide a wider public with a philosophical culture by educating people to think critically about the various forms of contemporary and past culture.
