La Cultura di San Ciriaco nel sito all'aperto di Torre Foghe (Tresnuraghes - Oristano)

P. 1-22

Near Torre Foghe (Tresnuraghes, OR), at the mouth of the Riu Mannu River, there is a large field of eolian Holocene dunes; on its eroded surface lithic industry and pottery have been collected. Trial excavations carried out in 1990/1992 in collaboration with Cagliari Archaeological Superintendence revealed the existence of a palaeosoil largely disturbed by erosion and ancient rural activities. In the undisturbed levels several complete vases belonging to the San Ciriaco Culture emerged, as well as abundant lithic industry made of obsidian, of volcanic rock belonging to the groups of phonolites and of flint nodules locally collected. Few isolated fragments testify the occasional frequentation of the area during the Impressed Ware Culture and, probably, during the San Michele Culture. [Publisher's text]
