Politiche normative alimentari, sostenibilità, movimenti sociali : il caso delle nomenclature dei prodotti veg in Europa
63-83 p.
The essay dwells on the role played by some movements and associations within the vegan and vegetarian contexts in orienting and promoting changes in the European Union's regulatory policies on nutrition and sustainability. These norms, in fact, were misaligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. After reviewing the evolution of recent European legislation on food production and consumption, the focus turns to the legal dispute that arose around vegan product nomenclatures, by analyzing some public campaigns, including the one called "Stop the veggie burger ban". In this context, the role played by movements active in food and environmental matters proved decisive in the rejection of two amendments that could have caused significant damage to the image of veg products, as well as in terms of marketing.
