The paper is devoted to developing an analysis of the contemporary process of selfdestruction of humanity both as a species and as civilization. In a first step the attention is focused on COVID19 pandemic, understood as a consequence of natural habitat destruction. In a second step it looks at the catastrophic process defined as 'sixth mass extinction', considered in terms of philosophy of biology and in relation to the topic of 'Anthropocene'. The third and fourth steps aim to give a philosophicalpolitical account of the concept of 'human selfdestruction' in his theoretical and historical peculiarities [Publisher's text].
