The article analyzes the philosophical significance of the work of a great medieval mystic, Meister Eckhart, placing it in relation to the need, felt by many today, of a renewal of Christianity and the Church, in a historical period often affected by deep philosophical and political problems, such to undermine the sense and meaning of being a Christian. Eckhart's work, in our opinion, may be an embarrassing and perhaps shocking news, such as to stimulate the search for a less alienated and alienating, so less violent living, for a new spirituality.
