The role of ideology in the Italian Social Republic (1943-1945)
676-687 p.
After 8th Semptember 1943 and the fall of Benito Mussolini - who was imprisoned - Italy was divided into two enemy states: the monarchy of Savoy which established its power in the South, thanks to Allies, and the Italian Social Republic (RSI or Salò Republic) founded by remaining fascists in the rest of Italy. The Italian Social Republic was a very puppet-state directly controlled by German army, so the new political situation compelled to create a different type of propaganda strategies by using characters, symbols, ideas and models derived from the ancient (and mythic) Roman Republic and the Risorgimento, or hailed from the Nazi ones, to obtain the effective mobilization of civilian population.
