Mito, simboli e stile dell'Europa unita
141-157 p.
This article analyzes Niccolò Zapponi's works devoted to such themes as European civilisation and Western Europe during the second half of twentieth century. In his approach, he dedicates great attention to the concept of modernity and to those collective mentalities which characterize the process of European unification and define some of its most peculiar aspects. This article takes into consideration two main fields. On the one hand, Europe is conceived as the product of a long-lasting acculturation process; on the other, as the result of political and institutional unification with its more recent historical background, symbolism and political style mainly defined by its ruling class.
