Diabasis

Diabasis was founded in Reggio Emilia in 1988 and is a unique element on the Italian publishing scene, comprised of some 90 members. With strong civic convictions, Diabasis is characterized by its "culturally indisciplined" works, with a taste for artistic contamination, transversal expression, and narrative according to the éspritiste school of Mounier.

The publisher seeks to obtain the following objectives:

• Perfect the humanistic core of its catalogue (literature, philosophy, human and social sciences, history, architecture), by strengthening its ties with Universities and other editorial partners (cooperative movements, local and regional institutions, associations, etc.).
• Intensify its relationship with the territory in which the publisher has deep roots (the northern Valle Padana, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Adriatic Sea, the Po River, the Via Emilia, the Via Postumia and the terre traverse (la Bassa, Montefeltro, Lunigiana and Garfagnana), seeking to bring out the capacity of universal and symbolic projection.
• Develop special attention to the relationship between architecture and territory, city and patrimony, material civilization, the ways and seasons of the earth (environment, water systems, agriculture and nutrition), and geography (geography and landscape) so as to transcend the various levels of the catalogue and develop a mature and original publishing identity.
