The notes which the librarian of the Florentine monastery of San Marco wrote in what is now the Bodleian copy of the Aldine edition of Politian, repea-ted twice within the pages of the volume, serve to corroborate Aldus's links to the monastery, where the preparation for the printing of his edition of Cathe-rine of Siena's Epistole had begun. These brief notes (the first of which is difficult to decipher) reveal that the copy was a gift from Aldus to the monastery and confirm his connections with the Florentine Dominicans in the immediate aftermath of the events involving Savonarola.
