In this article the author makes a reflection on the concept of death touching on psychoanalytic thinking, some religious traditions, some philosophical traditions. The distressing and unavoidable nature of this experience is underlined, due to the ability of selfawareness inherent in man, in front of which the human being in every age has tried to raise moral and psychological defenses of different types, up to extreme solutions. At the same time the potentially creative and empowering character of remaining in a state of partial awareness of this condition can be glimpsed. [Publisher's text].
