Consociativismo e capitalismo nelle Province Unite del XVII secolo : all'origine moderna di un percorso democratico

2016 - Editoriale Scientifica

439-475 p.

On the solid ground of Dahl's concept of democracy (1989), this paper focuses on the great historical thrust posed by the Dutch Republic for the establishment of the modern global democratic path. The analytic devices is offered by Arend Lijphart (1969) in his own survey about the consociational democratic systems. Notably, the historical junction between capitalistic development and the concurrent consociational dynamics within the Dutch jurisdiction, and its own outcomes have been here investigated. Structure and tendencies, and their intertwining, are at the core of the inquiry, not a mere analysis about political thought or from an anthropological perspective. [Publisher's text].
