Platone e Rawls : la radice metafisica nascosta della filosofia politica

2016 - Editoriale Scientifica

227-245 p.

This paper focuses on the strong relationship between metaphysics and political philosophy. I hold that there is an important element inside political philosophy that is the hidden root of metaphysics. Metaphysics explores the nature or essence of reality and political philosophy needs to understand and examine true nature of political concepts such as society, power and justice. In doing so, I take into account two philosophers: Plato and John Rawls. Both Plato and Rawls are two political philosophers who show the importance of reflection on metaphysics and policy to construct a just society. In fact in this paper I suggest the hypothesis to consider Rawls in the light of this new (or old?) relation in contrast with traditional literature about Rawls that sets aside metaphysical question.
