The first person pronoun, «I», allows the people to place themselves in the center of the reality and to give it a shape and a meaning. Autobiographical writing uses this pronoun to interrupt the automatisms of the author's self-image and to deepen his self consciousness. The autobiographer's path is open, unpredictable, and it does not have a precise finishing line. He does not seek a historical truth, but his goal is to accept the inner suffering in order to elaborate it, to modify the defenses and the representation of himself and of the other people.
